<OscarL> mmm, calling kernel_debugger didn't properly showed the KDL console, but all 4 cores on the host running the VM went 100% and made it barely usable (typical behavior of KDL here :-/). Had to blindly insist on "reboot" and ENTER. till it finally rebote :-)
<OscarL> I remember at least once using "kernel_debugger" successfully. not sure what's going on now.
<OscarL> mmm, I think it might be the vmware driver.
<OscarL> *display driver
<OscarL> yep. rebooted using VESA, now ctrl+alt+shift+SysRq+d works properly (still eating my CPUs for breakfast though :-D)
<OscarL> and /bin/kernel_debugger works too (vmware's keyboard doesn't seem to like entering and exiting KDL too much)
<OscarL> (logs shows I already was told about this "KDL not refreshing screen when using the vmware graphics driver" a while ago... where I left my memory pills again?)

<OscarL> Habbie: moun 0.2.0 gave me some error pretty early. switched to 0.4.0, but bootstrapping seems to have some issues (or I'm just doing it wrong). did a a non-boostrap build, albeit 0.4.0 seems to require a newer libarchive version than the one we have.
<Habbie> OscarL, ah
<OscarL> still builds though.
<OscarL> now to figure out how to get the tests without it using git for it as part of the build. sigh.
<nephele> that bug on the forum with float parsing, i've seen that before
<nephele> I think it was in relation to 0ad, but not sure anymore...
<OscarL> why oh why don't they tag the moun-test repo at the same time they cut a moun release. sigh...

<OscarL> (mmm, let's try with the url in THAT .wrap file, and not the one given as default in the meson_options.txt file :-D)
<nephele> I'm trying to figure out where to buy batteries for smartphones that still have replaceable batteries xD
<Habbie> last time i needed that, amazon delivered for me
<OscarL> I just soldered 2 smaller, older, but not-spicy batteries, in parallel, with about 7 cm of cable, and soldered that to the original BMS of the battery I needed to replace :-D
<nephele> I boycot amazon
<nephele> I boycot amazon so hard i send a gift card back to my previous employer, and they were like "oh, i guess you are right, amazon is shit, we wont give out amazon gift cards in the future"
<OscarL> now my cellphone looks pretty cyber-punkey.
<Habbie> nephele, yeah i also don't prefer it
<Habbie> sorry. that "also" was weak
<nephele> weak?
<nephele> OscarL: I think i don
<Habbie> i said 'also' but "not preferring it" is not what you do
<nephele> 't quite have the knowledge
<nephele> Habbie: heh, i guess so
<OscarL> should be pretty basic stuff... (if you have the original battery you want to replace). just need to separate the top of the old battery (where the BMS is) from the actual cells, should only be 2 terminals in the lower part of the BMS, "+" and "-".
<nephele> OscarL: my dayjob used to be getting spicy batteries :)
<nephele> what's the BMS?
<nephele> and how do you seperate this without it blowing up?
<nephele> I'm guessing the "new" battery would not fit easily though
Nasina has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<nephele> I do have lots of e-waste lithium ion vape batteries lying around
<OscarL> a small board that handles charging, cuts off power if voltage gets too low, etc.
<nephele> huh, i'd have assumed that'd be in the phone itself
<OscarL> I just taped mine to the back of the phone :-D
<OscarL> All batteries I've seen have a small board at the top.
<nephele> OscarL, one phone has a broken screen, ideally i don't need to add the battery at all, just a direct power supply
<OscarL> the one that has 3 or 4 pads.
<nephele> then maybe i can use it as a mail sevrer
<Habbie> i recently soldered direct supply to a phone, but it was entirely unhappy without the battery connected
<OscarL> 2 are for positive/negative... and depending on phone... the other two can be used for detection/temp sensing while charging.
<Habbie> i did try copying two resistors, but it did not help
<Habbie> works like this anyway
<nephele> this battery has about 8Wh, i doubt i get close to that with my vape batteries
<Habbie> if i turn up the voltage from 3.7 to 4 it starts drawing amps (because it starts to charge)
* Habbie zz
<nephele> OscarL: hmm, is there some guide online on how to dissasembly the battery safely withotu it burning my house down?
<nephele> so i can use the board for the vape batteries? :)
<OscarL> I had a 3000 mWh one that got way too spicy-pillowy... separating the board/contacts from the cells without it blowing up was pretty straight forward.... I just peeled the wrapper around it... then wiggled it a bit on the top, and was easy to see/cut the two "terminals" from the cells to the board.
<OscarL> I guess having a bucket of sand at hand might be advisable :-D
<nephele> I see
<OscarL> for the replacement batteries.... the ones I used came also from phones, but I did not removed the boards from them... just soldered them in parallel.
<nephele> I only have vape batteries
<OscarL> (using the existing pads, and leaving the existing BMS as extra protection)
<nephele> I mean "genuine" batteries are here sold for like 10ish euros
<nephele> i just don't know if "original" samsung batteries for a s3 mini are a scame or not, do they even sell these anymore?
HaikuUser3 has quit [Quit: Vision[]: i've been blurred!]
HaikuUser2 has quit [Quit: Vision[]: i've been blurred!]
<OscarL> no idea, down here there are plenty of "original"/"genuine" ones for most models, but you're most likely to get a "zamsung" one, or one with no brand at all :-)
<gordonjcp> I think they're all pretty much generic ones anyway
<OscarL> my phone has Android 6.0, so I did not wanted to spend much money on it, as I'll need a replacement soon, or stop being able to use any online banking :-(
<gordonjcp> they all probably come out of the same tin shed in Shenzen
<OscarL> (so using two older original LG ones was good enough for now for me :-D)
<nephele> I have two s3 minis here, and postmarketOS wiki sais it
<nephele> is supported, then wiki a bit, and damn, the exact model i have is a completely different device, with a different chipset
<nephele> darn
<OscarL> "meson-tests: NO Subproject exists but has no meson.build file." :-(
<OscarL> oh, come on!!! I caved... added cmd:git to the recipe... it used it to download the tests that way... and still get the same ""meson-tests: NO Subproject exists but has no meson.build file." message.
<OscarL> the one from https://git.sr.ht/~lattis/meson-tests/tree does has the darn file... but then why tf they clone a different repo?
<nephele> OscarL: reminds me of the good old times (tm) when the webkit github tool choken on my clone because it didn't have it's url be user/webkit

<OscarL> I give up. tried following https://sr.ht/~lattis/muon/ instructions for a non-bootstrap build, but the "meson test" step refuses to work. (now getting "ERROR: No such build data file as '/sources/muon-0.4.0/meson-private/build.dat'")
<OscarL> "cd build; meson test" seems to work, but why "meson -C build test" refuses to work, but only for "test" :-/

<OscarL> I should double check if the test errors I'm getting are related to the ticket you mention.
<OscarL> understood. thanks for the hint.
<OscarL> bah! https://muon.build/ has 0.5.0 already :-/
<OscarL> I was looking at https://git.sr.ht/~lattis/muon/refs instead.

<OscarL> 0.5.0 still fails to detect libarchive.
<OscarL> "hp muon-0.5.0 --test" --> "Ok: 22 / Expected Fail: 2 / Fail: 260 / Skipped: 4"
<OscarL> libarchive.pc contains "-L/packages/libxml2-2.12.5-3/.self/develop/lib" which might be causing problems, as we're already at 2.15.9 for libxml2.
<OscarL> apparently the issue is instead with: "Package 'iconv', required by 'libarchive', not found / Package 'libcrypto', required by 'libarchive', not found"
