(AGMS) zdykstra1 Getting a PowerMac 210? Let me know if it works, I've got a PowerComputing PowerTower Pro 225 here, which I use for building BeOS apps for PowerPC, like BeShare.

AGMS: nice. I have no idea the specs on mine, except that the seller is located 20 miles away from the old headquarters of PowerComputing in Texas.
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Got mine used, at an in-town Macintosh service place.
<B2IA>
(AGMS) The 210 suggests 210 Mhz for the CPU speed.
<zdykstra>
could be a coincidence, but given the overall visual condition of it, I'm hoping that it's a well-loved machine from a former employee
<zdykstra>
yeah, should be a 210mhz 604e
<christech>
those were cool machines
<B2IA>
(AGMS) I should take mine apart and remove the rechargable battery. Hope it hasn't damaged things, though it was working last year.
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Has 2 very noisy SCSI drives. Very.
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Noisey
<zdykstra>
always wanted one as a teenager, but I had teenager money
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Nope, noisy.
<zdykstra>
I'm an adult now, with adult money, so YOLO
<B2IA>
(AGMS) $300 for mine.
<christech>
I remember my friend getting one for college
<zdykstra>
yeah, spent $300 for mine as well
<christech>
I had one in the early 2000s but sold it for rent money heh
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Happy that it outputs VGA, not some Apple proprietary monitor thing.
<nekobot>
• Begasus (637c008d): texstudio, bump to 4.8.9 (#12937)
<zdykstra>
the DA-15 plug on apples is basically VGA with the sense pins shuffled around
<zdykstra>
you can get a $10 adapter that lets you plug a VGA screen in to it if needed
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Though my new system doesn't have VGA on the monitor, only HDMI and DisplayPort. Oh well, it's been a few decades. And it's really cheap ($300 again, plus tax) for 4K and 32 inches.
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Maybe I should dig up an old 19 inch ViewSonic for the PowerPC. But then I wouldn't have any desk space :-)
<zdykstra>
still, nice to know that they run BeOS. I'm looking forward to pulling out my 5.0.3 CD and booting it
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Plus the update patch for PPC and 5.0.3.
<zdykstra>
I still have a 4.5 CD + floppy that I bought all of those years ago :)
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Found it, BeOS5-Update3-Pro-PPC.zip
<zdykstra>
nice. I'll have to snag that
<B2IA>
(AGMS) It's on my BeShare if you can't find it elsewhere.
<zdykstra>
I'll go for it there, assuming I can reasonably easily get BeShare on the machine after installing it
<B2IA>
(AGMS) Anyway, I'm still trying to get x86 BeOS working on my new machine, an AMD Zen 5 system, which doesn't seem to have some secret Intel instruction so VirtualBox fails with a mystery error. But then Intel did help Be with writing BeOS drivers.
<B2IA>
(AGMS) I'm keeping BeShare for PPC up to date too.
