<JensGlathe[m]> _mike_: probably, not willing to buy one to find out. Ootb, probably no
<_mike_> I just took mine ootb
<_mike_> I'm downloading plucky now for x1e and going to try it
<_mike_> In retrospect perhaps I should have got the slim 5
<_mike_> Fingers crossed
<JensGlathe[m]> Try ideapad 5 or thinkbook 16 dtb, should be nearest. I‘ll upload the (still wip) image, waitasec
<JensGlathe[m]> its plucky-desktop-arm64+x1e-20250827_extended.iso, it has grub menu for the additional dtbs on it
<JensGlathe[m]> 10 mins ETA
<_mike_> Oh thank you. I tried to boot the concept iso but it said missing DT
<JensGlathe[m]> It also has an ext4 partition with (my tree) current kernel and audio related stuff. Still wip, though. Bug good for a few trial spins and if it comes up its installable. Keep Windows on it, though
<JensGlathe[m]> s/Bug/But/
<_mike_> The slim5x DTB is missing. The ideapad 5 and the think book kernel boots but doesn't init and reboots
<_mike_> I tried the HP one just for the sheer sake of it and it's initing now. Services starting
<_mike_> The GUI is running but input devices don't work. No kB or mouse.

<JensGlathe[m]> Thinkbook 16, it has i2c2 as kb/touchpad bus
<JensGlathe[m]> You can plug in external kb ofc
<_mike_> There was a typo in the grub menulist entry. Slim instead of slim.
<JensGlathe[m]> Hah
<JensGlathe[m]> You match by name

<_mike_> Well if you produce a device tree that works I'll test it for you. For now I'm going to the pub for a beer.
<JensGlathe[m]> Hah
<JensGlathe[m]> How about some dsdt data
<JensGlathe[m]> So slim5x is best, thats a starting point
<_mike_> Yeh shoot me some links
<_mike_> Hang on is dsdt data something I have to extract and give to you?
<_mike_> If so, how?
<_mike_> Something like cat /sys/firmware/acpi/tables/DSDT > dsdt.dat ?

<xeliteCJF> <valpackett> seriously? speaker disabled in the bios? Can't recall saw anything when I switched of secure boot back when I took the original M.2 to install my WD black.
<_mike_> Ok so that doesn't work to acpi tables...
<_mike_> S/to/no
<JensGlathe[m]> I usually do it from Windows, where it works well. PR with the .dat files (also .dsl if you disassemble with iasl -d *.dat) to https://github.com/aarch64-laptops/build/tree/master/misc

<JensGlathe[m]> you just need BIOS
<xelite> I already enter the bios (hit F2) but there isn't any menu item to manipulate the sound.
<xelite> On my ASUS S5507Q
<JensGlathe[m]> eh
<JensGlathe[m]> okay
<angeryboi[m]> xelite: Hit esc when you turn it on and see asus logo splash, then you have boot menu with enter setup option
<xelite> Let me see if that way do any other options

<maz> the mini-x doesn't seem to have an EC. seems an interesting departure from the other designs.
<maz> has a separate RTC hidden behind a bit of tape, apparently controlled by the FW to trigger an unattended power-on.
<maz> and the FW has HAMOA all over the place, even if the SoC is Purwa (or so it seems)
<JensGlathe[m]> ds1308 probably
<JensGlathe[m]> @sgerhold has it in his dt
<maz> nope. PT7C433.
<maz> PT7C4337, actually.
<travmurav[m]> given that I thiiiink at this point all ec does that matters is controlling the kb scanner, that would make sense, fan pwm can be put on pmics/soc pwm
<maz> seems likely. the fact that the devkit had an EC clearly was an oddity.
<travmurav[m]> nah, my understanding is that the """devkit""" board is just a derivative of some actual development kit board, iirc it has sim slot and other fun stuff
<travmurav[m]> so it makes total sense to me that it not only has the ec but has it easily swappable for oem user to try out their custom one before making a full board
<travmurav[m]> maz: btw given you said you've connected uart before ever powering the thing on, have you happened to save the first boot logs?
<maz> travmurav[m]: I'm afraid I didn't. I connected it to my desktop machine, which doesn't log anything.
<travmurav[m]> I see
<travmurav[m]> well don't worry then, was just a curiosity for something absolutely unlikely
<maz> (now I'm curious and thinking of getting a second one just to see...)
<travmurav[m]> had a dumb dumb thought that IFFFFFF lenovo provisions the firmware by soldering a pre-programmed spi flash and never turns the device on themselves, the fuses could be not burned yet before first boot, but that's most most likely unlikely
<travmurav[m]> in this, absolutely unlikely case, one could probably get a brand new device and nuke SEC from the flash before booting it, so it won't fuse itself xD
<travmurav[m]> but I think that's really way too many IFs
<maz> yeah. also, the UART wasn't functional on first boot as I had guessed TX/RX wrong (swapped them).

<dgilmore> there is a new bios update for the t14s, the readme seems to indicate nothing changed
<JensGlathe[m]> stealth changes
<HdkR> sed string replacement for version number.
<JensGlathe[m]> you don't go to this process for nothing
<nirik> at least you can see a notice... the slim7x page doesn't show any bios updates at all, but I hear from others there are some. ;)
<dgilmore> they republished it
<JensGlathe[m]> wasnt BSP where the Gunyah bug was hidden
<dgilmore> someone smarter than me would know
<HdkR> I assume doesn't fix whatever the 64GB RAM bug is?
<sgerhold> maz: so who controls the fans if there is no EC? On the Devkit, the EC does that
<jannau> FYI: virglrenderer in F43 will have msm and asahi DRM native context support. Only non asahi use case is afaik krun (virtual machine based container runtime). qemu patches are afaik not merged
<dgilmore> the gunyah bug is still there
<dgilmore> HdkR: it does not fix it
<HdkR> :chefs_kiss:
<JensGlathe[m]> <sgerhold> "maz: so who controls the fans if..." <- and very angrily
<sgerhold> JensGlathe[m]: I thought it isn‘t angry on Linux?
<JensGlathe[m]> only mildly jet engine

<robclark> jannau: I don't suppose you ever got steam working on fedora? Or only asahi remix? https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/issues-and-comments-with-fex-on-fedora-42/154860/4 (I'm still on f42, not moved to f43 yet)
<jannau> robclark: afaik steam works on non-asahi systems after removing binfmt-dispatcher
<robclark> hmm, ok.. let me try that I commented out something about muvm in binfmt-distpatcher toml but didn't try removing it
<jannau> I think it has a pagesize chack and muvm is only used if the pagesize is not 4k
<jannau> check
<robclark> well, you are right that it works after removing binfmt-dispatcher
<HdkR> I'll try to remember that as a quirk to tell users.

<steev> HdkR: we're still waiting for bamse to find out from someone whether its actually fixed or not, and if so... maybe we have to poke people we may or may not know at lenovo
<HdkR> steev: Really at this point, we're a couple days away from the dev summit. I'm likely to have my T14s never turn on again.
<steev> heh
<steev> because it's time to upgrade to the X2 elite?
<HdkR> Yea, whatever the next-gen ends up being.
<steev> well you can always donate the t14s to me :P
<HdkR> Come pick it up, I'll zero out the drive :D
<steev> i DO have a lot of free time on my hand
<HdkR> A surprising amount of free time
<steev> it was indeed a surprise :D
<HdkR> womp womp
<steev> i got my buddy with this one - we were on voice chat, and i said oh! offsec are no longer underpaying me! and he got all excited and goes oh!? do tell! and i said, yeah, they're not paying me at all now
<HdkR> Can't underpay with no pay :thinky:
<steev> exactly
<dgilmore> :(
<angeryboi[m]> Apparmor fix finally landed on Ubuntu 25.10, let's go. Next up is WPA3 authentication.
<angeryboi[m]> Ok nvm, I guess WPA3 issue was a configuration that somehow became hard set after upgrading from 25.04 to 25.10, resolved it by changing it in saved network settings security tab.
