<deathmist> is it just me or do Xwayland things flicker weirdly? I had to for example rebuild qpwgraph just to enable its "experimental Wayland mode" to make it actually usable on X1E, this is with Mesa 25.2.1 and https://github.com/SpieringsAE/linux/tree/wip/x1e80100-6.17-rc1 but rebased to -rc5
<robclark> I've not seen anything like that.. I'm using a mix of native wl and x11 apps
<bylaws> deathmist: yeah I have similar
<bylaws> Using zink worked around it for me
<bylaws> What distro are you using out of interest?
<robclark> (fwiw I'm using fedora f42)
<deathmist> bylaws: ah it's the already known-semi-broken freedreno which I've also seen flickering rendering games (even last rows in e.g. osu!lazer beatmap listing when starting to scroll), that makes sense.. atm booted to https://chimera-linux.org
<deathmist> weird how it only affects Xwayland apps though
<deathmist> or rather in this case anyway when it comes to desktop apps
<bylaws> I assume if you try something like ghidra or wine the ui kinda flickers and only updates when you mouse over things etc
<bylaws> And text is hidden etc
<bylaws> I'm also on f42, so whatever the difference is must be some config or fw issue
<robclark> idk if it matters, I'm just using a pretty vanilla gnome-shell setup.. until recently basically everything was using xwayland, more recently I switched chrome://flags to make chromium use wl directly
<deathmist> robclark: can confirm it was ok under gnome (48), but now after relogging to plasma I can't repro it here either.. this will be fun to debug if it shows up again
<robclark> huh.. odd..

<bamse> how come the eDP doesn't work on the xps13 in -rc5? anything we're missing in -rc still?
<valpackett> actual display not displaying or just brightness borked?
<valpackett> i bet it's just that that version got the edp backlight breakage but not the fix
<bamse> it's oled, so hard to know the difference...
<bamse> but there are no signs of issues on the software side
