<travmurav[m]> but I think jenneron had problems getting it work properly and they don't have time for it anymore nowdays
<travmurav[m]> can still try to install the port and look at their prior work: https://gitlab.com/sc8180x-mainline/linux/-/commits/master?ref_type=HEADS

<anthony25> S3 is buggy on the x1e for me, I dont know how it is on the x13s but maybe it has been disabled by your distro?
<jdb[m]> It seems to be working on x1e on Surface Pro 11, it is set to "deep" by default
<jdb[m]> I can wake up with an external USB keyboard, but not with the regular Surface keyboard, I'll need to understand why

<jdb[m]> The power button seems to be working fine hopefully for sleep/resume
<valpackett> jdb[m]: Surfaces use MS's funky SPI-HID while pretty much everything else uses I2C-HID, I guess SPI-HID goes to sleep in suspend
<jdb[m]> That's a good assumption indeed

<anthony25> The problem I have with s3 on the slim 7x is that I can't trust it, so the laptop happened to wake up boiling in my bag

<jdb[m]> Power button pressed inadvertently maybe, with the bag, as it is on the side?
<anthony25> I don't think so, even when on a table, the laptop would wake up after 15min or so
<anthony25> and it doesn't happen with s2idle
<jdb[m]> Interesting, I will see if I reproduce it with S3 / "deep"

<abelvesa> anyone know what is the sd-boot alternative for grub cutmem ?

<jannau> abelvesa: I doubt it has an equivalent. is above 32g usage already a problem in grub/sd-boot or only in linux? if it's the latter "mem=32G" in the kernel command line might work as well

<valpackett> you can also use slbounce to work around the 32g thing (and deal with the current downsides of EL2 like some DSPs not working.. but also enjoy virtualization)

<HarrisonV> Collected the firmware, used some automated tooling to create some dtsi files for the surface 12in based on hwinfo, will try figure out how to put it all together today, I think I need linux to run on the device first to get the ascpi tables to make a better tree
<steev> you can grab the acpi tables in windows
<steev> iirc, it's kind of better? because of the pep stuff, but don't quote me on it
<HdkR> Yea, the Windows tools work fine under XTA/Prism to read the ACPI tables.
<HdkR> Does PEP cause the data there to change?
