<deathmist> seems I've hit the very first thermal poweroff on X1E Vivovook, the fans almost aren't spinning at all
<steev> hooray?
<bamse> but is it really thermal related?
<bamse> my xps reset at 35C a few days back...while i was trying to type a command in my terminal

<deathmist> it wasn't a reset, it stayed off
<deathmist> and I was compiling kwin midway through at the time before just suddenly a poweroff happened, battery didn't run out or something

<Melody91> Hi there! I was wondering how well x13s is supported in mainline
<Melody91> I have a WDK that is running some ancient kernel fork (6.3), and I'm wanting to upgrade it :)
todi has joined #aarch64-laptops
<steev> it's probably one of the ones with the best support
<steev> there's still issues, for sure, but it's definitely usable
<Jasper[m]> Also the WDK is already upstream
<JensGlathe[m]> Current WDK support is usually always in my kernels, running 6.15.0-jg-8 here.
<Melody91> Nice, thank you so much!

<agl> steev: Hello steev, I installed your kernel 6.15.2 some time ago. I'm just now getting around to reporting back to you. The connection via USB-C to my ACASIS box no longer works. The Ethernet connection is connected to it. I can't connect to the Internet this way. What works, however, is the connection via USB using USB tethering via the kernel module RNDIS_HOST. WLAN also works, but the ACASIS-BOX with SSD and Ethernet is no longer recognized. Under
<agl> 6.14.11 everything still works. With JGlathes Kernel 6.15.0-j8, which he posted today at 8:30 CEST, everything works perfectly.
<steev> you'd have to look at what patches he applies that i'm not, or, potentially what he has that are newer versions
<steev> i'm not using 6.15 yet because it currently seems to kernel panic on me on reboot
<agl> that also a Problem with 6.15.2
<agl> Ich will use jglathes kernel.
<agl> or 6.14.11
<JensGlathe[m]> 6.14.11 is good
<JensGlathe[m]> and 6.15.0-jg-8, too

<genius1237[m]> I built mesa 25.1.4 from source (which should include support for the gpu on x1p42100) and pulled in the 2 gpu fw files from linux-firmware, but I'm still not getting accelerated rendering in gnome. Running Jens Glathe 6.15.0-6 kernel https://pastebin.com/1LW04g5B
<genius1237[m]> Jens Glathe: did you get the gpu working on your thinkbook 16?
<JensGlathe[m]> Yes it works. Try 6.15.0-jg-8, it has the v3 patchset.
<genius1237[m]> will try. do I require anything else other than the mesa and fw changes I mentioned above?
<genius1237[m]> I think you haven't pushed the -8 tag up yet
<JensGlathe[m]> I thought I did
<JensGlathe[m]> Will check, afk now

<JensGlathe[m]> genius1237: its now pushed, thank you for the hint
<robclark> I don't think 25.1.4 has x1-45 support.. unless you added the patch on top
<genius1237[m]> 25.1.4 was released 2 days ago, which seems to be after your patch. But let me double check
<genius1237[m]> Huh you're right

<robclark> yeah new features and new hw enablement generally doesn't get backported to release branches
<robclark> but it's a simple patch you can add if you are building mesa from src
<genius1237[m]> Yup, that's what I'm trying now
<genius1237[m]> which release of mesa will have this patch? 25.2? or 26?
<genius1237[m]> Applied the patch to 25.0.2, which is what debian testing has now, and I have the GPU working. yay
<robclark> \o/
<robclark> fwiw, 25.2 branchpoint is in ~3weeks so 25.2 should have the patch
<genius1237[m]> cool
<JensGlathe[m]> I've seen some oddity and sudden reboots with x1-45 gpu active. One was lots of AER messages from ath12k. What the reboots were, no idea yet but strongly suspecting ath12k. Because of this and [this chat entry on Ubuntu Concept](https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/ubuntu-24-10-concept-snapdragon-x-elite/48800/106), I have added the ath12k and wifi merges to 6.16.0-rc2-jg-1 and uploaded it to [Google
<JensGlathe[m]> Drive](https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Lps5o3FXroAJFDiKj18vutJbC1uld49s) for tests. Booted with it now, and no AER messages (yet)
<steev> gwolf: looks like lumag submitted 2 c630 related patchsets, one for displayport support :D
<steev> agl: it was really late last night when i replied... i suppose technically really early... are you saying that with JensGlathe[m]'s kernel, you do *not* get kernel panics on 6.15 reboots?
<JensGlathe[m]> Hmm I'm running 6.15 on the x13s, seen no reboots
<steev> no
<steev> i mean when i run "reboot", instead of rebooting when it should, it kernel panics (the camera led starts blinking)
<JensGlathe[m]> not seen that
<steev> interesting, okay
<steev> it only started with 6.15.0
<agl> clover[m]: Are you here?
<agl> clover[m]: I have a problem with the bluetoth under EOS and your new Kernel/firmware.
<clover[m]> i am here yeah
<clover[m]> sorry to hear that, i can't really test anything right now. hosting a dinner party and cooking rice and charro beans rn
<agl> clover[m]: I have updated today your x13-alarm and now Bluetoth does not work.
<agl> ok, I see tomorrow
<agl> clover[m]: What Kernel do you use this from steev?
<steev> agl: is btmgmt failing to run?
<steev> if so, it's a known issue with newer bluez
<agl> steev: yes, btmgmt does not set the korrekt mac-Adress.
<agl> steev: under https://archive.archlinux.org/packages/b/bluez/ I can look to the bluez-archive but there are only x86_64.pkg files. Where can i look for aarch64/arm64 files?
<clover[m]> Use downgrade agl
<steev> i have absolutely no idea
<agl> thanx Clover ;-)
<gwolf> steev: Excellent, thanks for letting me know!
<steev> sadly, mine still doesn't seem to be getting to bios :(
<gwolf> I guess it'd go in 6.16 the earliest
<steev> 6.17
<gwolf> yes, you told me ☹
<gwolf> As for me, I have not seen the I/O errors again... Hopefully it was a solar flare or something like that...
