<steveej[m]> after a system and kernel update bluetooth is no longer working on my x13s. `bluetoothctl` can't find any controller. i checked that rfkill is unblocked. kernel seems to be happy with bluetooth. i see:... (full message at <https://matrix.org/oftc/media/v1/media/download/AboxE3o5StToc59Y-WJQsvakf19ozSFEDfSOFvr45ZSBPzAJ8vgSthqwRiv7rGX38R70EQR7GZ_3vJVTLQsUNPlCeZFVntWgAG1hdHJpeC5vcmcvem5JcENCWFRNYkJ0aW1xRWVZY2loeGFS>)
<travmurav[m]> missing mac address?
<travmurav[m]> if the previous kernel was quite old, at some point while ago the driver was changed to refuse to work with unset mac
<travmurav[m]> there was also a bug in the bt utility that didn't allow setting mac/etc, not sure if that was fixed
<steveej[m]> i have a systemd service for setting the mac. if i manually run the script it indeed doesn't work:
<steveej[m]> Unable to send Set Public Address cmd
<travmurav[m]> yeah probably the bug then
<travmurav[m]> https://github.com/bluez/bluez/issues/1394 it was fixed at some point I guess
<steveej[m]> just checked and that fix hasn't been released yet. i'm running the buggy bluez 5.83 on nixos unstable
<steveej[m]> thanks for pointing that out

<clover[m]> Spent a lot of time debugging grub-btrfs only to find it didn't like the initrd name lol
<JensGlathe[m]> I use btrfs, but boot from ext4
<clover[m]> This was the fix basically. The probe needed something a little less customized
<tobhe[m]> yeah not sure if i'd trust grub filesystem drivers other than ext
<clover[m]> I dont want to look at another bash script for a while ugh

<JensGlathe[m]> as I recommended
<tobhe[m]> nothing wrong with btrfs imo but when you are using it for /boot you are using the grub implementation, not the Linux one for that
<tobhe[m]> afaict even fedora doesn't do that and probably for a reason
xeliteCJF has joined #aarch64-laptops
<robclark> yup, fedora has fat/esp partition so grub isn't involved w/ btrfs

<clover[m]> TIL about AES acceleration. It sped up my data migration a lot. protip if you are scp between arm servers and they have AES acceleration use Ciphers aes128-gcm@openssh.com
xeliteCJF has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<HdkR> Is this just AES instruction usage?
<clover[m]> yes
<HdkR> I'm surprised it's only 110MB/s
<clover[m]> it could be more, but i think thats about the cap for gigabit ethernet
<HdkR> ah I see, over the network
<Jasper[m]> There's a luks benchmark I think that does some transfer speed tests aswell iirc
<Jasper[m]> forgot what it's called

<HdkR> I played a bit with btrfs directory compression a few days ago. It works surprisingly well.
<HdkR> As shame you can't set compression level per directory, only compression type, but still pretty cool.
