hi everyone, ages not use an irc. But I look for some help around my Asus xElite S15 - in short, looks like the ADSP did not talk to me and the dai codec not comes up
<JensGlathe[m]>
is it defined in the dt?
<xeliteCJF>
yes sure.

The only difference is that the DMIC0/1 BIAS differs, mine is BIAS3 - yours is BIAS1
<xeliteCJF>
oh I spotted some differences in the regulator defines, your set some regulators always-on. Lets see if a regulator caused my problem.

xeliteCJF: i think your tplg file needs to be one dir higher, in root of x1e80100. eg. on my zenbook its /lib/firmware/updates/qcom/x1e80100/X1E80100-ASUS-Zenbook-A14-tplg.bin (don't have to use use updates)
<alexVinarskis[m]>

I have a symbolic link set. Like Lenovo and Zenbook
<alexVinarskis[m]>
but is it set to correct path? in message above you wrote its under qcom/x1e80100/ASUSTeK/vivobook-s15/X1E80100-ASUS-Vivobook-S15-tplg.bin, but it would have to be in qcom/x1e80100/X1E80100-ASUS-Vivobook-S15-tplg.bin
<alexVinarskis[m]>
though i guess if you don't have tplg related errors in dmesg, its indeed correct
<xeliteCJF>
no errors for the tplg.bin in my dmesg
<xeliteCJF>
btw. has someone played arouond with the embedded controller (EC) IT8987 i2c5@76? to switch off the rgb-led backlight. It's very annoying

deathmist: I dought the hidapi will not work - on the Asus X elite S15 everything is controlled by the EC chip can controlled by i2c register writes but there is no documentation about it.
<xeliteCJF>
It is not working for the S15 but it is the way to go.

xeliteCJF: I've tried it before also without any success. the script I linked is the only way I've been able to turn off the keyboard backlight so far. supposedly the HID-BPF program on the rest of that repo could be used too but I didn't have luck with it anyway (on a practically fully LLVM/Clang built distro though as opposed to GCC etc)
<xeliteCJF>
Hey hey hey,,, I pip hidapi .. failed.. using pip install hid , make the trick. The light is OFF!

<xeliteCJF> "qcom/x1e80100/ASUSTeK/vivobook-s..." <- tplg fw should be under x1e80100 dir, not Asus directory
<steev>
it looks like it is, at least, the symlink like the thinkpad has
<steev>
which reminds me - tobhe: with 6.16.0-12-qcom-x1e i still get no audio device as well (but i do with my own kernel)

try adding snd-soc-x1e80100.i_accept_the_danger=1 to the kernel cmdline
<tobhe[m]>
just checked, it does work on mine
<steev>
oh, i bet its that
chrisl has quit [Ping timeout: 480 seconds]

yeah, sorry about that :) i'll add it to the defaults even though i only need it on ubuntu kernels
<xeliteCJF>
I have the tplg fw in the /lib/firmware/qcom/x1e80100 , just a symbolic link back from the upper directory.
<xeliteCJF>
snd-soc-x1e80100.i_accept_the_danger=1 I will try this.. but I watching the EM on my laptop
<steev>
that is somethign the ubuntu patchsets add to their kernel
<tobhe[m]>
xeliteCJF: that is only needed with the Ubuntu kernel. a little safeguard I added so it doesn't get enabled by accident and causes hardware damage

<bylaws>
It doesn't look like symmetric crypto is used for this?
<bylaws>
Reading out the fused hash of the public key wouldn't gain you anything
<bylaws>
It's much more realistic to find a kernel bug that you can extend to allow something like kexec
<KREYREN_oftc>
bylaws, one member in our hackerspace unlocked quest 2 by just getting the public key.. the hope kinda is that i get the public key and then annoy her daily until she does the magic tbh unless someone has better way of defeating the qfprom
<KREYREN_oftc>
also it's possible that it has private key.. the qcomm docs are conflicting on that
