larstiq_: the usb port is very unstable and it only works sometimes. Kinda similar to my experience with hdmi on asahi :)
<larstiq_>
is there a pattern to the sometimes?
<marcusr>
I think it works once after a boot, I did see some warnings in my log about the port probably being dead until next boot after disconnect
<marcusr>
(but also I could only get it to work on one of the three usb-c ports on the mbp m2 max)

on my m1 I've had issues as well with usb hubs/usb drives for installation only working on the one port closest to power and it being a bit flaky
<larstiq_>
been quite a while since I've tested that and iirc there might have been some usb fixes since

<DogeTheBeast>
Hey, I just started looking into the Asahi project and was wondering if anyone has suggestions on what I should start with to better understand the project
<DogeTheBeast>
chaos_princess nothing specific as of now

DogeTheBeast the docs link I sent has a lot of info. Otherwise maybe just chose one area, based on what you want to improve or best what you know already. Then look at docs for that, look at exisiting code if any. Then check irc logs or ask questions

(in case you read logs)

oh, here's another hardware-related (I think?) question. Scenario: My MacBook Pro (M2) is shut down, powered off. I think "oh, tomorrow I'll be going on a railway trip so best fully charge it first" so I plug the magsafe plug in. I unplug it in the morning. a few hours later I finally board the train, open the laptop and find the battery completely empty.
<chaos_princess>
it turned on
<the_eye>
as far as I can surmise: plugging it in turns it on. It then boots until it gets to the screen where I need to input my disk encryption password
<the_eye>
I presume at this point no power saving functions are active as no plasma is running
<the_eye>
so it drains rather quickly, probably
<chaos_princess>
there is a nvram variable you can set to make it not turn on from any lightest provocation
