I created a fresh build system and was getting failed builds. Upon further investigation I noticed: bash: line 1: go: command not found
<SnakesAndStuff>
golang is not a listed dependency for the buildsystem. Does this need updating?

dwfreed: so by the time you get NVMe, DRAM, WiFi, and 5G into it, you're looking at $1200 or so.
<dwfreed>
exactly
<dwfreed>
lot of money for something that is now 5 years old
<philipp64>
_sigh_
<philipp64>
So the BPi-R4 is still a better deal.
<philipp64>
how much is a GPS receiver chip this days? surprised most router SBC's don't include one.
<minimal>
why would people in general want most/all routers to include a GPS receiver?
<philipp64>
hmmm... ublox is $14-30 single quantity. surface mount, 12 pads
<philipp64>
for accurate time. there are more time-based DoS attacks out there than most people realize.
<philipp64>
if I can leap your clock into another decade, then suddenly all of your X.509 certificates are invalid.
<minimal>
most people probably do not care about accurate time, plus in many cases an external (to the building/apartment) antenna would be required
<minimal>
NTP is sufficient in most situations
<pekster>
A far less involved solution is to disable vanilla NTP and write a tiny script to query a service you can run on a VPS or even as a microservice that uses TLS to get the time, and set it. Without NTP's built-in correction for fairly high sub-second accurcy you might be off by a more notable amount (a good fraction of a second to even several) but the cryptographic security would likely meet your
<pekster>
needs.
<minimal>
or use NTS
<philipp64>
NTPv5 has much better security.
<philipp64>
We (NTF) didn't solve the group cohesion problem, however. Turns out that getting a rogue member of a pool to be discovered when it's lying about the time is a really hard problem.
<philipp64>
well, auto-attestation in any case.
