Could it be that the 6.12 kernel has a packet loss issue across multiple platforms? I've seen people reporting problems with Rockchip, and I'm experiencing issues on a MediaTek MT7622-based Belkin router.
<dwfreed>
I mean, it's certainly plausible

superior6570: that really doesn't have anything to do with github, there was a vote and the majority decided we should do main instead of master
<stintel>
Nick[m]: haven't tried, package/devel/perf does not build with 6.12 and I refuse to build images without perf included
hauke[m] has joined #openwrt-devel

Nick @schnick:matrix.org: maybe remove our generic patches.
<stintel>
I really wish people would pay more attention, it's always the same, debugging tools break on a new kernel and nobody knows about it
<Nick[m]>
hauke: yeah maybe the next days... Just wanted to see if roaming bug suddenly appears ^^ (turns out, it did not...). And suddenly I had huge issues with ssh connection via my wireguard tunnel.
<Nick[m]>
stintel: I had no time to look into this. Feel free to take over my PR. I just wanted to try something and have an easy platform without any patches.
<stintel>
Nick[m]: I have the time but honestly I don't have the motivation anymore
<stintel>
qca is garbage, and mtk isn't far from it, going off the conversations in here. what else is there? if we're not better (more stable) than OEM, what's the point

I'm talking about f00b4r0 (and others) long-standing mt76 bug, and also some long-standing dsa bug
<stintel>
and I understand this is an open source / volunteer project, but I know very well some of us are paid very good money to work on "openwrt" while lots of that work does not make it back upstream, so yeah, here I am, complaining that I want my money back
<Nick[m]>
stintel: Yeah, it's a complicated topic. I'd love to hear someone talk about it at a conference or something.
<stintel>
Nick[m]: I'd like someone who is familiar with the stack to have a proper look at it. and we have those people. but they're too busy working on wifi 11 for $oem/$odm
<Habbie>
talking at conferences is an expensive hobby
<Nick[m]>
Habbie: there is wcw in berlin this weekend. does not cost anything ;)
<Habbie>
for people that are in berlin and have time, yes :)
<Nick[m]>
stintel: I guess that's just how the world works? People spend all day working on those things, and then in their limited free time, they don’t want to spend it fixing random issues that don’t have paying customers. So, I guess it’s not that surprising?
<stintel>
Nick[m]: I did some work on OpenWifi while I worked at Meta and I told them "upstream first or fuck off"
<stintel>
if the project can sponsor my travel costs I'd consider it
<Nick[m]>
stintel: Interesting, I didn’t know Meta is working on WiFi. Do you mean the Telecom Infra Project? I’ve always wondered what that project is about and what its goals are. It always sounded interesting. Sounds like OpenRAN...
<stintel>
yes I mean TIP but I afaik Meta withdrew few years ago when they went full metaversa and laid of almost 30k people
<Nick[m]>
stintel: I guess enough people here can host you, so you’d only need to cover the travel. ;) However, I have no idea where you live.
<stintel>
Sofia
<stintel>
there's definitely flights available
<Nick[m]>
stintel: ryanair is about 200€ roundtrip. going afk
<stintel>
I can do non low cost for 250 so ryanair is not an option for 200
