junari: not really, but I probably have enough information to cobble together a DT and defconfig
<apritzel>
but since I haven't opened it, I have no serial. And since the secure FEL is preventing FEL boot for now, I cannot use the SD card serial pins, since I need to load via SD card

So, what is preventing to boot linux if you have DT and defconf?
<apritzel>
to boot something, I would need to load it first, which is either via FEL (doesn't work since it's stuck in non-secure or monitor mode atm), or via SD card - but then I don't have serial
<apritzel>
junari: do you have one, and if yes, did you open it? Are there UART pads?
<junari>
yes, I have. But I am not opened it yet
<junari>
I need a device with a screen. HDMI is still not very clear when DE3.5 is not working properly
<apritzel>
but you would still need DE3.5 support, even when using one of the LCD interfaces, right?
<junari>
Yes
<junari>
I can buy a MIPI DSI display from RPI and connect it to my WalnutPi. But I don't want to spend money on things I won't use later
<junari>
Somewhere I saw a photo of a disassembled p85t

junari: ah thanks, so there are two pads labelled RX and TX, I guess it's "bring your own GND" ;-)
<junari>
oooh I see. You are very observant
<apritzel>
the DT lists a bunch of displays, all of them equally enabled(!), but it's unclear how they are connected. It's apparently not eDP, though
<junari>
Are you planing to disassemble your tablet to add it in u-boot/linux?
<apritzel>
I am probably not going to take it apart, but I am quite hopeful I can crack FEL, then I could load everything there and use the SD card UART pins
<apritzel>
seems like the A133, A523 and A733 use the same secure FEL method, so that would be useful beyond just this tablet
<junari>
I understand. Maybe I'll try to open back cover it this weekend. If you make any progress, let me know

15 years ago, phones used cmdline to select one specific panel. Qualcomm selects DT with different panels via the bootloader
