FWIW, I've monitored redis over the week and the data was at max 6.4 GB from what I could see, so I wonder if the crashes where not related to some sort of DDoS or just too many users at the same time

slomo: I think bentiss said that gitlab is sending the wrong http cache headers and he's had to build a list of urls where fastly needs to disobey gitlab so that it's usable; I have the same issue you're describing, and it looks like there's more urls to add to the list

You can stop it from creating AOF and RDB files completely and keep it all exclusively in memory
