<BroderTuck> So 6.16 is out with a few last-minute sunxi fixes (including the gmac0 rename), and a523 u-boot support heading to the main repo. I'd call that a good day.

<warpme> guys: i have board with 8822cs sdio wifi on m2 key. Hw desgin not provides vqmmc to m2 module and instead m2 module has onboard 1v8 requlator for io. So module operates always on 1v8 io. Issue i have is kernel (6.16 mainline) at init checks 1v8 modes and fails with "dwmmc_rockchip 2a320000.mmc: Unexpected CMD11 timeout". Imho this is because kernel has no control on sdio vqmmc level. As module uses always 1v8 (on board regulator) but
<warpme> kernel starts with 3v3 then tries 1v8 then fails with 1v8 level - all fails like here: https://termbin.com/2q66 Is there way to ask kernel to skip 3v3->1v8 switching and directly go with 1v8 modes? I tried mmc-hs200-1_8v and mmc-hs400-1_8v and this removes "Unexpected CMD11 timeout" but still gives very low wifi speeds (so i suspect still issues with sdio bus)
<wens> we don't really support uhs, aka switching from 3.3v to 1.8v for SD cards
<warpme> wens : yeah - infact my case is hw which not needs such switching. it needs support of io with all time 1v8. i think my case will be not alone as i can imagine other hw designs where integrated pheriph. is wired with io to fixed 1v8 supply. is linux mmc subsys prepared for such case?
<wens> I was actually looking into UHS support over the weekend
<wens> you're definitely not alone. IIRC some MediaTek stuff has 1.8V I/O for most peripherals
<wens> the problem is that the PIO needs to be configured to use 1.8V signaling instead of 3.3V. And currently we don't support doing this on the fly.
<wens> for SDIO it's on the PG pins?
<wens> oh, actually I now see you intended for the message to be on the rockchip channel

<BroderTuck> Just out of curiosity, not that I have any plans of using it: How much do we know about the NPU in e.g. the A523 family?
<wens> BroderTuck: it's supposed to be one from vivante

<apritzel> warpme: doesn't it work if you let the vqmmc property point to a fixed v1.8 regulator? I think SD cards need to start negotiating at 3.3V, but SDIO and eMMC are typically fine with a fixed I/O voltage
<warpme> apritzel : thx. this is what exactly i done. things started to look ok in https://gist.github.com/warpme/1f607482b666713f4ffd5b477106085b but speed is still 30-40Mbps at max. Still don't understand why.... maybe time to get osciloscope and see what happens on io lanes....
