<kuligs2> hello
<kuligs2> while im too lazy to reg account on gitlab, can i ask maybe here? Yesterday i upgraded my arch packages (all) and then i noticed that on mpv on every video i get visual glitches like noticable white rectangular lines. not as thin as line but thin rectangulars at random. they pop in and out all over some part of the screen. On vlc same videos, no problem. Could this be related to the current mesa? Previously i had mesa from 28.05.2025, dont remember
<kuligs2> im not at home pc, just throwing this out, maybe someones has ideas what could this be related to
<mupuf> kuligs2: can be, but this is really the wrong channel for this. What GPU are you using?
<kuligs2> 7900xtx
<kuligs2> even on boot, when there is the scrollin text in tty that shows whats loading and stuff, there are visual glitches with white lines
<kuligs2> im not super smart, but i tried to downgrade mesa via pacman - bad idea.. turns out it wont downgrade deps.. and so after downgrade and reboot -> black screen with white rectangle blinking
<kuligs2> good thing i had another pc to ask interwebs and chroot into my root and update to latest mesa..
<kuligs2> my guess i just have to wait for the next mesa update.. they push updates once a week or something..
<kode54> can't reproduce on 7700xt
<kode54> also running arch, got new mesa early because I'm using the testing repos
<kode54> and this was better discussed in a mesa channel, perhaps even #radeon specifically

<daniels> mupuf: hey did you ever see this? maybe it’d be good to reuse in ci-tron so it’s more cloud-compatible
jimmy8843 has joined #freedesktop
<mupuf> daniels: the link seems broken
<mupuf> found another one
<mupuf> daniels: yes, I did see it and considered using it... but the gpu side was not powerful enough for our needs
<mupuf> and even the platform side was lacking a little. It is clearly not meant to run on SBCs.
<mupuf> but I did recognize that we had the same general needs and appreciated it
ximion has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<mupuf> another thing that would be difficult with k8s' node discovery: being able to select different architectures at boot time like we can on the rpi. Or being able to unbind the gpus we don't want to expose for testing
<mupuf> And not sure how much they rely on the kernel drivers to get information. This was explicit goal of mine not to depend on anything more than device enumeration... since you want to be able to check if the hardware is the one you expected regardless of how broken your gpu driver is :D
Caterpillar has quit [Quit: Konversation terminated!]
<mupuf> vivante broke that though, because we can't ask the hardware for detailed information without risking breaking something: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/gfx-ci/ci-tron/-/blob/main/gfxinfo/src/valve_gfx_ci/gfxinfo/vivante.py
<mupuf> but yeah, keeping track of upcoming GPUs and documenting them requires a little bit of work regularly
<daniels> mupuf: hmmm maybe that’s something that could be improved for k8s as well? they seem keen to add more to it
<mupuf> daniels: Sure, and I made sure that gfxinfo can be used as a library :)
<daniels> I’m sure they’ll love Python ;)
<daniels> the declarative matching they have seems really cool, I wonder if that could be used as a portable data definition
<daniels> then you could use it from any language
<mupuf> Yeah, it looks quite nice!
<mupuf> And I would not mind making big changes to the way we generate the tags
<mupuf> we had quite a few discussions about this with a contributor, trying to figure out how to tailor tags for different deployments
<mupuf> this description file could be it

<AnnoyingRain5> Heya, my gitlab account just got approved - how long does it take until I can fork projects to my personal namespace?
<__tim> should be immediate I think?
<AnnoyingRain5> Hm, been about 10 minutes after being approved now, nothing yet
<__tim> apache2 on annarchy needs a restart, it's dead
<AnnoyingRain5> yeah that'd probably be it, bot isn't responding to the issue
<whot> sigh, looks like the ackuser bot is broken again
<whot> AnnoyingRain5: manually ticked the thing now, you should be good to go
<AnnoyingRain5> Thank you!
<karolherbst> normally the bot should handle it...
<karolherbst> wonder why it doesn't
<whot> let's ping the almighty bentiss and go to bed :)
<karolherbst> it did so yesterday..
<karolherbst> maybe the gitlab update broke it?
<karolherbst> was there a gitlab update?
<AnnoyingRain5> potentially unrelated - is https://freedesktop.org supposed to have anything on it?
<AnnoyingRain5> Can't seem to connect at all
<karolherbst> ohh looks like something went down
<bentiss> whot: WTF??? now we got an "issue" event_type, instead of "work_item"
<bentiss> I'll fix that in the afternoon
<__tim> AnnoyingRain5, that's the apache2 thing I referred to above :)
<__tim> seems back now, thanks
<jrayhawk> AnnoyingRain5: fixed. probably a transient load event.
<AnnoyingRain5> ah! gotcha, yeah I didn't realise that your mediawiki server was called annarchy
<AnnoyingRain5> ty!

<olivial> getting some errors on the vmware-vmx-piglit jobs: "The Infrastructure is not working correctly. Please report this error to LAVA admins"
<olivial> this the right place to report it?
