i try to unlock m2 a+e key port and i stack , i did not shure is router suport PCIe , soc suport 1 lane pcie 3 and 1 lane pcie 2
<slh>
is there an M.2 slot in the first place, I don't see one in the FCC images (but those photos are bad, so maybe I missed something)

yes , port exist on bord , i make it and i did not get nating, voltage on port are normal and device (NVME) stard bliinking , so i convert m2e key to pcie with 12v input
<ax89x>
@slh i use m2 e-key to convert to pcie , m2 e-key to m2 NVME , m2 e-key to mini pci , all have signal and voltage but openwrt did not show nating

ax89x: Is the PCIe port activated in DTS?
<hauke>
ax89x: there is no pci mentioned in target/linux/qualcommax/files/arch/arm64/boot/dts/qcom/ipq8074-rt-ax89x.dts
<ax89x>
i dont know and thet and i need thet information
<hauke>
ax89x: other boards like target/linux/qualcommax/files/arch/arm64/boot/dts/qcom/ipq8072-haze.dts activate pcie0 and pcie1
<ax89x>
so DTS first i must enble in DTS pcie and then to try devices
<hauke>
yes probably, I am not very familiar with qualcommax
<ax89x>
thanks and i will traying and i will ask @robimarko can hi help for thet , i alredy donate and i will donate again
<hauke>
ax89x: you can copy the nodes with pci in the name from target/linux/qualcommax/files/arch/arm64/boot/dts/qcom/ipq8072-haze.dts to your DTS file and check if you see a PCIe device
<ax89x>
can you help me abou thet , i am very nub for that and i start to learn
<slh>
a) it's not very polite to cross-post between #openwrt and #openwrt-devel, b) you really should have started to this port doesn't even exist on your device from the factory, but that /you/ soldered an M.2 port on a footprint that remotely matches M.2 - we have no idea which lanes ASUS routed there in the first place, nor which other components/ chicken food are missing, nor if it ever worked
<slh>
there are many different things using M.2 as a phyiscal connector, who knows if this particular footprint carries PCIe lanes - or if the footprint ist wired up correctly/ ever worked (for ASUS in the design factory)
<ax89x>
thank @slh i got lot of extender and convertor for m2 e-key to pcie x1 and x4 , m2 e-key to mini pci and i try in other machine they fork very nice
<slh>
is it cool tinkering, sure - but you have to expect problems for things like this (there's typically a reason why the connector isn't populated, it might be because they were cheap - or because it never worked/ was intended for something completely different) unless you are apt with a scope and have experience with this kind of PCB level engineering, it's not likely to succeed
<slh>
if I had to guess, the vendor might have intended it for 4g/ 5g connectivity, meaning USB lanes only
<slh>
yes, this is pure speculation, but more likely than PCIe
<slh>
and a more common (vendor-side) extension for modern routers
<slh>
all PCIe lanes are tpyically already taken, especially on a board that is already kitted out to the max (10 GBit/s ethernet, etc.)
<ax89x>
last time whn i try thet port hi have all voltage normal and my PCIe x1 card start to blinking led , i connect sata2 , usbc , hvme , lot ow wifi card ... and all device start to blinking led and start to be hot on normal operatin temperature , so maybe mising thet code on DTS and maybe some of elektronic part like resistor ...

Sometimes vendors also use existing common connectors with a completely different pin out for something else. Like the pice pins could contain uart or something different.
<ax89x>
yes i understud this but i like to try and i real need help for this
<ax89x>
last time when i compile my version i bricked my router and cost me 150e to remove chip and programing with corect system and now i scare to try
