<john-cabaj[m]> tobhe_, I have a first Questing kernel release prepared here - https://launchpad.net/~john-cabaj/+archive/ubuntu/asahi-arm/
<john-cabaj[m]> Making copies for Plucky and Noble right now
<tobhe[m]> uuuh nice 🙂
<tobhe[m]> updates to questing should work now too. I think I fixed all of the bugs I hit on my machine
<tobhe[m]> and FFEd all the latest debian changes into the archive actually
<john-cabaj[m]> Nice
<john-cabaj[m]> I recall there were some toolchain issues starting to pop up with Noble, but I can't recall what they are outside of @kaazoo mentioning some linux-tools issues
<tobhe[m]> there was a bug in debian with 6.16 too, let me see if I can find the report...
<john-cabaj[m]> Whelp, I didn't get that one..
<john-cabaj[m]> I'll spin another kernel
<tobhe[m]> 2 days ago, broke display output on a bunch of machines
<john-cabaj[m]> Ah man.. There's a rebase in between, too..
<john-cabaj[m]> Back to the drawing board
<tobhe[m]> urgh sorry for that 🙂 could be that it isn't even broken yet in yours if the rebase is missing
<tobhe[m]> depending on which tag you used
<john-cabaj[m]> If it was introduced in v6.16.5, then the current build is fine
<tobhe[m]> only 6.16.5-1 was affected I think
<john-cabaj[m]> Hmm, well the problematic commit is definitely in asahi-6.16.4-2
<john-cabaj[m]> That's fine
<john-cabaj[m]> Won't take too long
<john-cabaj[m]> Ok, that's building now
<john-cabaj[m]> Ok, new version is published in the same PPA - https://launchpad.net/~john-cabaj/+archive/ubuntu/asahi-arm/
<tobhe[m]> will try later :)
<tobhe[m]> kernel works here on questing
<tobhe[m]> good we fixed dracut, looks like the default gets changed now

<WoC> Any estimate on when M4 Pro might become supported ?
<WoC> or if there is any beta's in the works ?
<WoC> I wouldn't mind test driving :)
<tobhe[m]> I wouldn't get my hopes up. I am not aware of anyone working on it right now unfortunately ☚ī¸
<WoC> Aye, it's not a quick thing, i know
<WoC> I'm sure Apple is not being overly supportive neither
<WoC> I would imagine
<WoC> virtualizations works pretty good though... but getting stripped from ios
<WoC> the lack of arm64 iso's doesn't exactly help though
<tobhe[m]> For Ubuntu? There are arm64 desktop ISOs since 24.10 I think and we even retroactively added one for 24.04.3 recently :0
<tobhe[m]> s/:0/🙂/
<tobhe[m]> 25.04 even has a nice button on the download page https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop
<WoC> Right, but most distro's doesn't have one
<WoC> usually disk images
<tobhe[m]> indeed. I think it will get better though. More and more manufacturers start building proper arm computers vs sbcs
