<kaazoo> Hi, I just noticed that kisak's PPA has mesa 25.2.1 built for noble and plucky at https://launchpad.net/~kisak/+archive/ubuntu/kisak-mesa/+packages
<tobhe[m]> released on debian and ubuntu questing recently because we are trying to get the very latest into the release I think
<tobhe[m]> there is some fallout though https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/2121980
<tobhe[m]> sounds familiar actually
<tobhe[m]> I've been trying to get the dracut asahi-scripts stuff working today and have just opened a MR in Debian https://salsa.debian.org/bananas-team/asahi-scripts/-/merge_requests/11
<kaazoo> Yes, I saw 25.2.1 in sid as well: https://packages.debian.org/source/sid/mesa
<kaazoo> But providing the build dependencies on noble might be some adventure.
<tobhe[m]> I think there was also a SRU actually
<kaazoo> What does SRU mean?
<tobhe[m]> stable release update
<tobhe[m]> LTS releases do get updated sometimes to support new hardware
<tobhe[m]> can't see anything in the bug tracker though. I might be mixing things up
<tobhe[m]> so not actually a new version
<kaazoo> OK, mesa 25.2.1 from kisak seems to work fine on noble. So, at least vkcube and glxgears work and glxinfo / vulkaninfo show hardware support.
<kaazoo> Now, I'll add that into the RootFS for FEX, in order to have the same version in muvm as well.
<kaazoo> Surprisingly, even with mesa 25.1.0~pre20250425.01ac84e-3~ua1.25.04 in RootFS glxgears and vkcube work. So there are not so many differences, for the basic stuff at least.
<kaazoo> Ah, btw: Firefox from snap still shows "OpenGL ES 3.2 Mesa 24.2.0~pre20240725-1asahi1.22.04" under about:support.
<tobhe[m]> so we need to ping the mesa snap team to run a rebuild
