<weepingclown[m]> "given I am a complete beginner..." <- It will be difficult if completly begginer, try copy pasting regulators and simple-framebuffer and disabling dispcc, and clk_ignore_unsued in bootargs, but prepare for very frustrating debugging sessions!

Oh and don't forget to enable FB_SIMPLE and no-map your framebuffer region in reserved-memory :P
